Pictures of high-school killers Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold will be included in the new Columbine HS yearbook, sharing pages with the 12 students and one teacher they slaughtered.
In the two weeks since Harris and Klebold shot and bombed the Littleton, Colo., school, yearbook staffers agonized over whether to include the pair responsible for the carnage.
“The [yearbook staffers] made the decision that it’s not their property,” Jim Herbertson, a sales representative of Herff Jones Inc., which publishes the Columbine yearbook, said yesterday.
“If the [buyers] want to cut out their pictures or mark [them] out with black markers, that’ll be their decision. It was a tough choice … but [Harris and Klebold] still did go to school with them for 12 years.”
It’s not known whether Harris and Klebold ordered yearbooks.
“If they ordered one, their parents will get one,” Herberton said.
In the days after the April 20 massacre, publisher Herff Jones conducted its own audit to see if Harris and Klebold left any coded, parting messages in the pictures and personal ads in the yearbook. None was discovered.
