Brad Grey, the producer of TV’s “Just Shoot Me” and “NewsRadio,” is teaming up with Columbia TriStar Television to create BGTV, a new development and production company.
Grey will develop new shows through his Brillstein-Grey Entertainment. Columbia TriStar TV, which is owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment, will finance and distribute them.
“We’re thrilled to be back in business with Sony. Our companies have enjoyed a very successful history together,” said Grey.
Brillstein-Grey Entertainment has six shows on the air now, including “Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher” on ABC, “The Sopranos” and “Mr. Show with Bob and David” on HBO, and ”The Steve Harvey Show” on the WB network.
“Brillstein-Grey’s track record showcases their uncanny ability to produce original and unique shows. We look forward to partnering on future franchise hits,” said Columbia TriStar TV President Jon Feltheimer.
Columbia TriStar TV already distributes “Just Shoot Me,” “NewsRadio” and “The Steve Harvey Show.”
BGTV will start developing shows in about a month, after the television networks have picked their fall shows.
Grey started out repping comics, and he still has a thriving management business. Heartthrobs Brad Pitt and Christian Slater, “Friends” star Courtney Cox, Nicholas Cage and David Spade are clients of his Brillstein-Grey Enterprises.
He is also developing several movie scripts, including an adaption of Roald Dahl’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”
Columbia TriStar’s lineup includes “Mad About You,” “Party of Five,” “L.A. Doctors,” and “Dawson’s Creek.”
