Bruce Springsteen fans were burning mad yesterday after a Newark firefighter cut in front of them to buy tickets, claiming he was doing a fire inspection.
Fans of The Boss, who had camped out all night in front of a Ticketmaster outlet in Newark, said a fire truck pulled up in front of the building and three firefighters got out, saying they were doing a fire inspection.
One fireman proceeded to walk up to the window and purchased the hot ducats.
“People who had been waiting in line for hours started yelling and cursing at them,” said George Romero, who witnessed the incident. “One of the firefighters said, ‘This is one of the perks of the job.’ “
The firefighter, whom Fire Department officials would not identify, has been ordered to give up the four tickets and also faces a disciplinary hearing.
The Boss is playing 15 concerts dates on his reunion tour with the E Street Band at the Continential Airlines Arena starting July 16.
Ticket scalpers are selling tickets for as much as $300 apiece.
