TABLE HOPPER: RUBY FOO’S

ABSTRACT:

Ruby Foo’s

2182 Broadway

East meets, well, East on the Upper West Side at Ruby Foo’s. This Steve Hanson hot spot is a combo of Japanese and Chinese cuisines – with an added twist of Thai.

Apparently the mix works, because almost every night of the week the 350-seat restaurant is bustling. Even on Mondays, the place is busy pouring its house cocktail, the Ruby Foo – a fruity fusion of sake and vodka served in a martini glass.

The fusion these is carried down to David Rockwell’s decor, which marries Chinese ornamentation with Japanese austerity. Simple sushi stations share space with Buddhas and dragon heads.
