Burglars on Long Island broke into a pet store and came away with assorted booty, including loot that slithers — three large snakes.
The thieves stole a 10-foot-long albino Burmese python, worth $7,200, and two 7-foot boa constrictors worth $1,000 each. Police were led to a Mastic home, where they recovered the python and one of the boas, but they are still on the lookout for the second boa — and the burglars.
Suffolk County Detective Sgt. Lawrence Boyle said the missing snake is normally quite docile, but could become dangerous to small children or pets if provoked or hungry.
He asked anyone with information about the snake to call detectives at (631) 854-8552. All calls are confidential.
