Apparently there’s no pizzazz in Michigan St. or Florida.
The NCAA men’s basketball final between the two teams Monday night produced an all-time low television rating of 14.1, down 18 percent from last year. The tourney-long 6.5 rating was off 4 percent.
Viewership was hampered by baseball’s opening day telecasts and the lack of big name stars.
One sports industry consultant said the game didn’t have the “big event” stars or conditions to draw an above average audience. Sports programming, he said, will continue to see audience meltdown although it remains strong compared to non-sports shows.
