ORLANDO — With Chris Dudley and John Wallace out till Friday, the Knicks had internal discussions about bringing back John Starks.
But that’s not happening, according to Jeff Van Gundy, who said the Knicks will sign someone today as basically a practice player out of the CBA — a perimeter player with playoff eligibility. Starks does not have playoff eligibility and he hasn’t played in a month.
That the Knicks have zeroed in on a playoff-eligible player is another indication that Dudley’s playoff status is highly uncertain.
The Knick shopping list includes CBAers Silas Mills, Brandon Williams, Jimmy King, Damian Owens, Kiwane Garris and Kebu Stewart.
Van Gundy has grown tired of excuses that the second nights of back-to-backs are physically treacherous.
Even with last night’s 96-89 win over the Magic, the Knicks have been a terrible back-to-back club this season, going 6-11 on second nights.
