Confessed Abner Louima sodomy cop Justin Volpe has been transferred from a lockup in Manhattan to a federal medical prison, sources told The Post.
Volpe earlier this week was taken out of the Metropolitan Correctional Center, where he’s been serving a 30-year sentence for assaulting Louima, a source said.
The move came just weeks after Charles Schwarz, another ex-cop convicted in the case, was moved from MCC to a medical prison in Massachusetts.
It wasn’t immediately clear where Volpe was taken, or why he needed medical treatment.
A published report said Volpe was moved to Rochester, Minn.
Volpe’s lawyer, Marvyn Kornberg, refused to comment.
Volpe had been jailed at MCC since he pleaded guilty last May to shoving a stick up Louima’s rectum in a bathroom at the 70th Precinct station house on Aug. 9, 1997.
Schwarz was convicted during the same trial in Brooklyn federal court of restraining Louima during the assault.
Schwarz, who has maintained his innocence, was moved to Devens, Mass., shortly after he was convicted last month, in a separate trial, on obstruction-of-justice charges.
His lawyer, Ronald Fischetti, said the move was triggered when he asked that a despondent Schwarz be placed on suicide watch as a precaution.
