A five-pound chihuahua named Camilla is set to inherit $20 million – and thousands of people are vying to adopt her.
The 4-year-old pooch’s owner suffered a stroke this week in the remote Italian town of Minturno. Fearing she may not recover, the 77-year-old retired French woman has willed her entire fortune to Camilla. And the prospect of owning the soon-to-be-filthy-rich canine has sparked a frenzy to formally adopt Camilla.
“Our phones are ringing off the hook,” a town spokesman said.
“Everybody who calls is insisting that it’s not about the money. But no other animal has ever sparked this much interest.”
Police, fearing dognappers, have moved the would-be heiress to an undisclosed location in Naples.
Officials are said to be hunting frantically for the ailing owner’s will.
