AS the New York real estate market softens, buyers are emboldened to demand much more than they have in the recent years of a pure sellers’ market.
And they’re even getting pickier about their neighbors.
Ever since Cindy Crawford’s downstairs neighbor sued the supermodel for making too much noise, other New Yorkers have come to realize that having a celebrity for a neighbor might not be such a good thing.
Besides Cindy, other celebrities who have been deemed bad neighbors are Ralph Lauren, Billie Jean King and Hillary Clinton, according to a survey conducted by MortgageIt, an online provider of mortgage loans.
But some stars ranked high in the good-neighbor sweepstakes. Sarah Jessica Parker and Tiger Woods were tops in the survey, and Madonna and Tom Cruise were close runners-up.
Overall, politicians were the least-desired neighbors, while athletes were the favorites.
