A city fire battalion chief was busted in Queens yesterday after he was caught trying to hide marijuana and painkillers when he was stopped for a traffic violation, police said.
Robert Gleason, 43, a 23-year veteran of the department assigned to Battalion 37 in Brooklyn, was pulled over on the service road of the Van Wyck Expressway near 109th Avenue on his way from work.
When cops asked Gleason to take his hands out of his pockets, he allegedly tried to stuff a bag of pot into the back of his pants.
He also tried to discard the painkillers vicodin and oxycotin, police said.
Gleason was charged with marijuana possession and possession of a controlled substance.
The FDNY had no immediate comment.
