A Queens Fire Department inspector was busted yesterday for bribing a co-worker to rig fire-safety records for two auto-repair shops, officials said.
The probe of Louis Smith began last month when an FDNY inspector contacted the city Department of Investigation.
The inspector claimed Smith, 55, offered him $200 to fake records at the shops so it would look as if fire code violations had been fixed, officials said.
Last week, Smith allegedly gave the inspector – working undercover for DOI – another $400 to get rid of two summonses against the auto shops.
Smith faces up to seven years in prison if he’s convicted.
