WASHINGTON.
REP. Gary Condit was into massages big time – and he actually got his muscles soothed at the same spa where Monica Lewinsky once was a regular.
Cops have removed massage oil from Condit’s apartment for forensic examination.
But when he wasn’t home with his lotion, he got some professional help.
Condit was a regular customer at an elegant, high-priced spa in Georgetown.
The spa, called “Ilo Day Spa,” is owned by Gary Walker.
Walker, who looks more like he was born in Hollywood rather than his native Edinburgh, Scotland, said:
“I can’t discuss whether he was a regular customer here.
“I can’t confirm or deny your question, because I am in constant contact with the U.S. Attorneys Department.”
Was Chandra Levy a patron?
“Again, I’m sorry I cannot discuss the matter. The U.S. attorneys have told us not to talk about this.”
Any other high-profile figures get the rub here?
“Oh, yes, Monica Lewinsky has been here a lot,” Walker said. “Al Gore’s wife Tipper has come here a lot. A lot of really high-profile people are customers here.”
Gary Walker just waved his head from side to side in silence when asked if Condit used an assumed name at the spa or hit on any of the female staff.
The Ilo Day Spa is tucked into a trendy area of Georgetown at 1637 Wisconsin Ave.
Next door is a boutique wine shop called the Wine Cellar, and it’s across from a popular Thai restaurant called Basil.
The menu for hair care starts at $70 for a woman’s haircut, $48 for a man’s haircut, and zooms to $267 for a woman’s tint, full highlights, hair cut and finish.
A half-hour Swedish massage starts at $45, but special care soars to $318 and a “day of beauty” comes in at $245.
Small, but extremely classy, this spa has a hair-dressing salon and massage rooms. The two women behind the receptionist desk, one the manager and the other an assistant, are both stunning Asian beauties.
“I have owned this place for 21 years,” said Walker. “I have seen a lot of important people walk through these doors.”
Gary Condit’s muscles were well tended for. And the U.S. attorney wants to know all about it.
