PHEW! MAILED $$ RECOVERED

Maria Fu was devastated when she realized she accidentally dropped an unsealed, unmarked envelope stuffed with nearly $600 into a postal box.

“Oh, my God,” the Kew Gardens hairdresser lamented over her mistake Tuesday evening. “I have a kid. I need the money.”

But less than an hour after reporting the missing cash to the Postal Service Wednesday morning, it was recovered, thanks to two honest postal workers.

Fu’s trauma began at 82nd Street and Kew Gardens Road, where she unwittingly dropped the money into the mailbox along with a stack of letters. After getting Fu’s call the next day, window clerk Anna Palacios called mail carrier Gerard Bory and asked him to bring in all the letters he had picked up from the box. The envelope was recovered.
