Another day, another lawsuit for Lizzie Grubman.
Ad exec Harlan Goldberg backed into the motoring media maven with a $5 million suit yesterday, charging that her “carelessness and negligence” behind the wheel has left him with “severe and permanent personal injuries.”
The civil action is the fourth such suit filed against Grubman since a July 7 smash-up outside Southampton’s Conscience Point Inn that left 16 people injured.
In all, the suits seek $91 million against Grubman and her high-powered lawyer father, Allen.
Grubman contends she backed into the nightclub crowd accidentally because she didn’t know how powerful her daddy’s Mercedes SUV was. Some witnesses contend she plowed into the crowd intentionally after an expletive-filled confrontation with a bouncer.
The flack, who’s represented the likes of Britney Spears and Jay-Z, took off with friends after the crash. She was later arrested and charged with assault, reckless endangerment and fleeing the scene of an accident. She pleaded not guilty and was released on $25,000 bond.
Goldberg’s lawyer, Stuart Schlesinger, said his client isn’t interested in pointing fingers – for now.
“As far as we’re concerned, even Mario Andretti can accidentally run a red light. For the moment, this is a careless act,” he said. “We only want just compensation for our client’s injuries.”
The suit says the 27-year-old marketing and advertising entrepreneur suffered “injuries to his head, eyes, face, foot, nerves, skin, muscles, tendons and ligaments” and had to be operated on after the car knocked him into a wall.
Schlesinger said his client still has sutures over his eye and has been in and out of the hospital because of severe ligament damage to his leg.
“Only time will tell how – and if – he heals,” Schlesinger said.
Her lawyer, Stephen Scaring, said the incident was “an accident. If [Goldberg’s] claims are reasonable, I’m sure he’ll be compensated. I’m sure the insurance company will sort out what’s reasonable.”
