PEDALING PERP CHOSE POOR PLACE TO PILFER

A suspected rapist picked the wrong house to break into when he stole a bike from the home of one of the city’s top prosecutors.

Victor Arias, 33, a convicted sex offender wanted for the rapes of an 11-year-girl and 35-year-old woman, stole a bicycle from the Queens home of Gregory Lasak, the DA’s executive assistant for major crimes, early Sunday morning, police said yesterday.

Lasak, who has put away Black Liberation Army assassins and the College Point Massacre killers, was awakened by his barking dog. He spotted Perez pedaling away and gave chase in his car.

He drove around his southeast Queens neighborhood for 15 minutes before spotting and confronting Arias.

“I’m not going back to jail,” said Arias, who is on probation, before dropping the bike and running off.

At that point, a resident on the block who witnessed the confrontation provided Lasak with the nickname of the suspect, who was picked up in a park the following day by Detective Ronald Pelecchia of the 102nd Precinct.

Arias was identified by the 35-year-old rape victim, who was attacked during a burglary last October, sources say. DNA and other evidence link him to the assault on the 11-year-old victim, who was assaulted last September, sources said.

Lasak declined comment.
