Bear Stearns’ chief investment strategist shocked her colleagues yesterday by announcing she’s leaving Wall Street to go to law school.
Elizabeth Mackay, who is also a senior managing director, has quit so she can attend Columbia Law this fall, The Post has learned.
“It’s true, it’s sad, and she will be sorely missed,” said a Bear Stearns spokesman, who added that the firm is searching for a replacement.
Mackay, 43, was not available to comment on her plans. The Bear Stearns spokesman said the law school plan has been in the works for a long time, and is simply something that Mackay “always wanted to do.”
One of the highest-ranking women on Wall Street, Mackay joined Bear Stearns in 1992 after working as an investment strategist and a portfolio manager at Brown Brothers Harriman and Merrill Lynch.
