KELLY Ripa is furious at “All My Children” for poking some fun at her new baby daughter, Lola Grace Consuelos.
In a recent episode of “AMC,” the character of Mateo asks his sister, Rosa, what she thinks of naming his baby Lourdes.
“Then her nickname would be Lola or Lulu or something like that,” Rosa sniffs with obvious disapproval.
The rub is that Mateo is played by Mark Consuelos – Ripa’s real-life husband and the proud father of Lola Grace. On “AMC,” Mateo is married to Hayley, played by Ripa.
Ripa addressed the issue recently
On “Live with Regis & Kelly” during the host chat segment with guest host Alec Baldwin, Kelly made it clear she was not amused by the wisecrack.
“They’re talking about names for the baby, and he says, ‘Maybe we’ll name the baby Lola’ and she goes, ‘Ew, you don’t wanna name the baby Lola, you don’t want people calling your child Lola – which happens to be my daughter’s real name,’ ” Ripa said with a slight smile.
“The writer wrote that,” Ripa said. “I’m trying to figure out which writer it is that has the ax to grind with me, and my quest isn’t over- I will find you!”
Ripa brought up the slight again while visiting “The Rosie O’Donnell Show” on Wednesday.
For its part, the soap opera says they were having a little fun.
“There’s a lot of inside stuff that goes on around ‘All My Children,’ ” says an ABC spokeswoman. “This was kind of a ‘wink-wink’ to the audience.
“They once had a baby-naming contest for Haley’s baby [Haley is Ripa’s character], and Mateo brought up the name ‘Regis,’ ” she said, alluding to Ripa’s “Live” co-host, Regis Philbin.
” And Haley said, ‘Are you kidding? Name my baby Regis?’
“It’s just the people on the show having some fun.”
