A handicapped 12-year- old girl got a six-hour tour of Queens yesterday when her school-bus driver got lost taking her home from her first day of class, police said.
The blind, mentally retarded girl, who was not identified, attends PS 233 in St. Albans.
After class, she got onto a bus with a driver and a matron for the ride home to her family in Long Island City.
But the driver, who works for the Logan Bus Co., got lost and called her dispatcher repeatedly, – but still couldn’t find the way, cops said.
The child’s distraught parents called the Board of Education when their daughter didn’t return home and officials then called Logan.
Finally, at around 9 p.m., the family was told to retrieve the girl from the bus at the corner of Thomson Avenue and Van Dam Street in Sunnyside.
No charges were filed.
