The Upper West Side priest slashed and mugged on the doorsteps of his parish home is eagerly awaiting his return to the pulpit tomorrow morning, his boss, Edward Cardinal Egan, said yesterday.
Egan met with the wounded Rev. Robert O’Donnell, pastor of St. Paul the Apostle Church on Columbus Avenue, for 20 minutes yesterday.
“He’s sitting up and doing just fine. He even says that with a little luck, he might be able to celebrate Mass on Sunday,” Egan said.
Well-wishers have been calling and stopping by the parish house to relay prayers for O’Donnell’s recovery.
