In every parent’s worst nightmare, a Westchester man took dozens of jobs that gave him access to children – including camp counselor, ice-cream truck driver and kids’ DJ – and then raped and molested them, authorities said yesterday.
David Ohnmacht, 22, was charged with rape, sodomy and numerous other sexual offenses against girls ranging from toddlers to teens.
DA Jeanine Pirro said the case included some of the most outrageous crimes and acts she had seen in her 27-year career.
Ohnmacht, 22, who lives with his parents in Katonah, used the jobs to befriend young girls whom he then contacted via phone, e-mail and Internet chat rooms, cops said.
The alleged pedophile had more than 1,000 photos of naked children, some engaged in sex acts, on his computer, Pirro said, adding he’d also taken pictures of himself molesting young girls.
Pirro said Ohnmacht also tried to persuade the 12- and 13-year-old girls he had “befriended” to take naked bathtub snaps of children they were baby-sitting.
Some of the girls were molested in Ohnmacht’s ice-cream truck, Pirro said.
“This guy was predatory, devious and cunning. He did everything he could to have contact with young girls,” said Pirro.
Authorities said Ohnmacht’s kiddie-friendly jobs also included serving as a lifeguard in Katonah city pool; helping manage children’s activity center Play Scape in Mount Kisco; and working as a counselor at Briarcliff Manor Day Camp.
He also regularly DJ’d at teens’ birthday parties.
Briarcliff Manor cops finally uncovered the multiple crimes two weeks ago after a teen told her mother about the alleged abuse.
Westchester authorities have identified six girls aged 12 to 14 as victims and believe there are scores of others.
Charges against Ohnmacht include first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy, each punishable by up to 25 years in prison. He also faces 112 other counts, including attempted rape and sodomy and sex abuse.
