A new poll shows Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is holding onto a 5-point lead in his re-election race, in which Democrats are seeking to exact revenge for losing Florida to President Bush in 2000.
Bush had 49 percent to Democratic challenger Bill McBride’s 44 percent in the Mason-Dixon poll of registered voters. It had a 4-point margin of error in either direction.
To avoid an embarrassing loss, the Bush camp is rushing in the president and former President George H.W. Bush. National Democrats are focusing on south Florida to get voters to turn out against Jeb Bush and as a reminder of Al Gore’s 2000 loss to Bush’s brother.
