A beefy band of armed street thugs mugged Nets star Chris Childs early yesterday morning after staking him out at a Chelsea club owned by rap mogul P. Diddy, cops and witnesses said.
The plot took form inside trendy Justin’s, at 31 W. 21st St., during a late-night birthday bash for Giants linebacker Jessie Armstead, as three of the brawny suspects hung out, watching a jewelry-laden Childs, police said.
When Childs, 34, left the club around 1:30 a.m. and headed for his Mercedes, parked next door, they jumped him, police said.
One thug pulled a gun as another ripped off Childs’ jewelry, including a gold and diamond watch, a gold chain and s diamond pinkie ring, police said. The robbers also took $800 in cash and his cell phone. The take totaled about $30,000.
“They were sitting and plotting, waiting for him, and as soon as he went to get his car, they attacked him,” Justin’s manager John Ginn told The Post.
“One of them was standing in the stairway to the dining room, watching [Childs], and I had to ask him to move. I had no idea he was plotting this.”
Four men – all in their 20s and from Brooklyn – were charged in the attack.
Cops nabbed two at a subway entrance at Sixth Avenue and 23rd Street, and two on the tracks.
