Jeremy Shockey better play on Monday night.
The rookie tight end, no stranger to controversy in his first year with the Giants, committed what Jim Fassel considers a cardinal sin heading into the showdown with the Eagles at Veterans Stadium.
Shockey, on his weekly WFAN radio spot, provided some bulletin-board material for the Eagles with inflammatory comments.
Shockey refuted the contention that the Eagles have the best secondary in the league, calling the group overrated, “not very good,” “lucky” and susceptible to giving up big plays.
Shockey also said Philly’s two wins over the Giants last season were lucky and the Eagles do not really believe they can beat the Giants.
You think the Eagles will view Shockey as a marked man?
Of course, that’s if he plays. Shockey watched from the side again yesterday during practice, as he’s is battling through a painful case of turf toe in the big toe of his right foot.
“I feel fairly confident he’ll play,” Fassel said.

Michael Strahan did not practice after, as Fassel said, his back “tightened up a little bit.” Strahan said: “I’m resting; I’m fine.”
