GIANT NOTES
Jeremy Shockey, still battling a painful case of turf toe, watched practice once again yesterday but hoped to play Monday night against the Eagles.
The Giants’ rookie tight end said his lack of work in practice should not be alarming.
“It’s feeling better every day, I’m trying not to push it real hard,” said Shockey, who injured the right big toe in Dallas and sat out the next game vs. the Falcons.
After responding all week to questions about Shockey by saying “He’s fine,” coach Jim Fassel backtracked just a bit, qualifying his comments by stating, “I ask him, he says, ‘I’ll be able to play.’ I feel fairly confident he’ll play.”
Shockey on his weekly radio show described the Eagles’ strong secondary as “not very good” and “lucky” and susceptible to big plays.

Michael Strahan did not practice, as Fassel said Strahan’s back “tightened up a little bit” … Giants will work out tomorrow afternoon at Veterans Stadium to test the playing surface and settle on which type of shoes they will wear for the game.
