GIANT NOTES
The prognosis for Ike Hilliard – who the Giants learned yesterday is lost for the season with a dislocated right shoulder and a tear in both his labrum and pectoralis muscle – calls for a complete recovery after a rehab about three months.
“We think he’ll be perfect next year, hopefully as a New York Giant,” said agent Jonathan Feinsod.
That hope will likely not be realized. Hilliard will be an unrestricted free agent following this season and, considering the long list of injuries that have battered his body, there is little chance the Giants will be eager to invest in him.
The Redskins and Steve Spurrier, Hilliard’s former coach at Florida, might,
With 12:10 left in the third quarter of Monday night’s 17-3 loss to the Eagles, Hilliard was hurt when he was drilled by Eagles safety Brian Dawkins well after the ball fell incomplete.
Fassel complained to officials after the game that Dawkins should have been ejected for the hit.
Hilliard refused to criticize Dawkins.

TE Jeremy Shockey (turf toe) limped through much of the game but Fassel said, “I think we can get through the season with him.” Fassel yesterday had a talk with Shockey about his loose lips and overwrought emotions.
The Eagles following the game took great delight directing some verbal jabs at Shockey, who last Friday let loose with some inflammatory comments about the Eagles.
“He was talking a lot of noise,” said LB Carlos Emmons. “But he’s going home with a loss. Maybe he can talk about that. In his sleep.”
