Change in the weather over at Ch. 2
John Bolaris, who toiled as Ch. 2’s weekend weatherman from 1987-90, is returning home to become the station’s 4:30, 5, 6 and 11 p.m. weatherman effective Dec. 9. David Rogers, who had been fulfilling that role, will move to early mornings (5-7 a.m. on “News this Morning”) and to Ch. 2’s noon newscast.
Bolaris has spent the last 12 years at Philadelphia’s NBC affiliate, working the 4, 5, 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts. A native of Brentwood (Long Island), Bolaris worked at WCBS (880 AM) and News 12 Long Island before joining Ch. 2 in 1990.
In other local broadcasting news, Susie Gharib (“Nightly Business Report”), Stacey Reiss (“Dateline”), Polly Kreisman and Christina Summers (Ch. 11) and Barbara Nevins Taylor (Ch. 9) are among those being honored Nov. 8 (at the W Hotel) by The Newswomen’s Club of New York.
And Ch. 4 will air the New York State Comptrollers debate between Alan Hevesi and John Faso this Sunday at 7:30 a.m. during the “News Forum” segment of “Weekend Today.” It’s being taped Friday at 10 a.m. in Ch. 4’s studios with Gabe Pressman moderating.

First up is Smith, who will be directing the episode that’s taping this week. Van Der Beek and Jackson will sit in the director’s chair later in the season. “Dawson’s Creek” airs tonight at 8 on Ch. 11.
