WASHINGTON – The top U.N. weapons inspectors today are coming to huddle with President Bush at the White House as the administration tries to prod the United Nations toward a decision on Iraq within a week.
U.S. officials said chief inspector Hans Blix and nuclear inspector Mohammed El Baradei have consulted with the Russians and hinted they’re playing a role in how to word a new U.N. Security Council resolution aimed at Saddam Hussein.
“After all, these are the guys who have to go in there [Iraq]. They know what’s needed,” a White House official said.
