An MTA police manager who oversees its vehicle fleet was arrested on drunken-driving charges on Staten Island early yesterday – after smashing an agency vehicle into a parked car, authorities said.
Robert Castro, 51, of 50 Beekman St., Staten Island, was suspended without pay, said MTA spokesman Tom Kelly.
Castro was busted at 12:05 a.m. after driving a Chevy Impala into a parked car at Beach Avenue and Hylan Boulevard in New Dorp, police said.
An MTA official confirmed that Castro was driving an agency car.
Castro, the civilian-fleet manager for MTA police, has been with the agency for less than two years.
One MTA insider was disgusted with the alleged reckless behavior, contrasting it with agency cops’ focus on fighting terrorist attacks.
