A 28-year-old Washington Heights woman died when she jumped three stories while trying to escape a blaze in her apartment building, police said.
The one-alarm fire broke out at 10:49 p.m. Saturday on the top floor of the three-story structure at 511 W. 186th St.
Ten other residents of the building suffered from smoke inhalation.
Sixty firefighters from 12 companies brought the fire under control in less than half an hour. Fire marshals were investigating the cause of the blaze.
