Furious straphangers and politicans again pelted the MTA with complaints yesterday, arguing that raising bus and subway fares to $2 was way off track.
More than 200 people packed into an auditorium at the New York City College of Technology in Brooklyn to sound off on the MTA’s plan to raise fares and shut down 177 token booths.
Transit officials sat stone-faced for the second consecutive day as a parade of riders and politicans gave them an earful.
“Brooklynites are not shy about expressing their opinion,” said Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz. “So when it comes to closing token booths – fuhgeddaboudit!”
Others complained that MTA chariman Peter Kalikow was not at the hearing.
“I can only hope he’s stuck on a No. 4 train and will be here soon,” said Gene Russianoff, a lawyer with the Straphangers Campaign, as a ^chorus of boos filled the room.”
