Thousands of stolen rare stamps were recovered after FBI agents busted two Bronx men who were peddling them to a Manhattan gallery.
Ulysses Cheda approached the gallery owner last month claiming he had $8 million worth of stamps for sale from the Piller Stamp Collection, court documents unsealed yesterday said.
The gallery owner, who has not been named, tipped off the feds.
He took part in a sting this week where he “bought” from Cheda and his pal, Jose Palmer, two sets of stamps with an estimated value of more than $400,000 for a mere $75,000.
After FBI agents arrested the pair at a Bronx video store, they uncovered a 50-pound box filled with stamps from the Piller Collection, believed to have been stolen in the late 1990s.
The Piller Collection is named after Oakland rare-samp dealer Stanley Piller.
