It’s the biggest show in town – definitely the biggest show in Long Island City, where the Museum of Modern Art is hanging these days – but if you haven’t been able to get a single ticket to MoMA QNS’ “Matisse Picasso” blockbuster, you’re in luck: There’ll be a special showing next Saturday that’s just for families.
On March 1, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. – just before the museum opens to the public – families with kids ages 5 to 12 are invited to see the show, complete with child-friendly gallery lectures, food and music.
Thus inspired, you can try to create your own masterpiece in a workshop on Pablo Picasso’s portraiture and Henri Matisse’s cut-paper techniques.
The cost is $30 for one adult and one child, plus $12 for each additional person, and preregistration’s a must: Call (212) 708-9848.
If you can’t make it then, try “Mornings with Matisse Picasso,” running most Saturdays through May 17. Same lively discussions and activities – all geared for kids ages 5 to 10 and the adults who love them – only the program’s just one hour long and costs $15 per family.
Preregister is by mail only; call (212) 708-9805 or visit [email protected] for a form.
