A teacher at a Queens junior high school raped a 12-year-old special-education student at least seven times over a two-month period, police said.
Chatindra Jawahir, 37, of Ozone Park, was arrested last night and charged with rape and sodomy – both felonies – as well as a misdemeanor for endangering the welfare of a child.
Jawahir has been an art teacher at JHS 157 in Rego Park for a year, police said.
Cops broke the case when the student confided in a friend that between December 2002 and Feb. 13, 2003, Jawahir sexually assaulted her seven times at his home.
The friend coaxed the girl to tell her parents, who called police.
In an unrelated incident at the same school earlier in the day, a 16-year-old boy sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl in a boys’ bathroom, police said.
The boy, Kendric Lee, was charged with sexual abuse, a felony.
His name was released because he is being ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^charged as an adult.
