KELLY Ripa has given birth to her third child, a boy named Joaquin.
The baby (no middle name yet) arrived at 9:31 a.m. Monday via planned C- section – right at the time “Live with Regis & Kelly was airing.“
“I tried to call you but they wouldn’t let me make a phone call from the ER,” Ripa told Regis Philbin and wife Joy Philbin when she phoned into yesterday’s show to break the news.
“I hate to brag but [Joaquin] is just as gorgeous as the other two,” Ripa said, alluding to son Michael, 5½ and daughter Lola, 11/2.
“He looks just like [her husband] Mark, Lola and Michael. They all sort of look alike.”
Ripa said the couple still hasn’t decided on a middle name.
“We exhausted ourselves with Joaquin, but I’m open to suggestions,” she told the Philbins.
Regis, of course, suggested that his name would make the perfect middle name for little Joaquin.
“Here’s what I think you should do,” Regis replied. “Name him ‘Joaquin R.’ but don’t let people know what the ‘R’ is, just you and I know [that it’s for ‘Regis’].”
Joaquin weighed in at 8 pounds, 5 ounces and was born at an undisclosed Manhattan hospital.
Ripa, who’s married to her “All My Children” co-star Mark Consuelos, gave birth to Lola in June 2001, several months after replacing Kathie Lee Gifford opposite Philbin in the “Live” co-host’s chair.
Ripa’s last day on “Live” was Feb. 21. She’s expected to return to “Live” in early May.
The show will use a rotating roster of celebrity co-hosts until then.
