Manhattan

A Manhattan woman heading to parent-teacher night with her 6-year-old daughter was injured yesterday when a minivan crashed into two parked cars and flipped over on the Upper West Side.

Shakima Nelson, 25, was just getting out of her car with her mother, Desiree, and daughter, Cheyenne, when a Dodge Caravan careened into an Acura behind them on Amsterdam Avenue at 79th Street. Then it struck Nelson’s Nissan.

Nelson was thrown into the air when the minivan knocked the Nissan into her.

“He almost killed my mother,” said the youngster, who witnessed the pile-up. “He hit my mom and she fell to the ground.”

Cops did not release the name of the driver, who had to be cut out of the vehicle. He was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital.

Cops are looking for 19-year-old man who escaped from a jail cell yesterday after he was arrested for jumping a subway turnstile.

Elbrin Evangeliste escaped from an unlocked Transit District cell at 145th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue when an officer left him unsupervised just after 2 p.m., according to police sources.

It was unclear exactly how Evangeliste – who was not handcuffed while inside the cell – got out of the station undetected.

Evangeliste was picked up after he jumped a turnstile at the 181 Street station at 12:50 p.m., police sources said.

A 39-year-old drug suspect who fled police custody was recaptured yesterday in his girlfriend’s East Harlem apartment, police said.

The suspect, Gerald Blunt, managed to shed the shackles that bound him to other prisoners being loaded into a police van last week outside the 25th Precinct station house on East 119th Street.

Cops nabbed him early yesterday in his girlfriend’s home on East 124th Street.

A thief strolled into a Chelsea bank yesterday, slipped a note demanding money to a teller and fled with an unspecified amount of cash, police said.

The robbery took place around 9:30 a.m. at the Chase branch on 23rd Street near Sixth Avenue.

The robber was described as a 5-foot-10 black man in his late teens who was last seen wearing a dark blue fur-lined coat.

Brooklyn

A 23-year-old man found shot dead on the roof of a Brooklyn housing project might have been robbed by a customer to whom he sold illegal cigarettes, authorities said yesterday.

Cops said Sherwin Henry bought untaxed cigarettes at an Indian reservation on Long Island and sold them in the city to make a few extra bucks.

Police are investigating whether he was shot in the head by a customer trying to rob him at the Linden Houses on Wortman Avenue near Vermont Street.

Henry, of 514 Hegeman Ave., had been reported missing by his family on Nov. 15.

Cops spotted Henry’s vehicle outside the housing project around 3:30 p.m. Monday and discovered his body during a search of the building.

A 64-year-old man was shot in the neck after an assailant accosted him on a Bensonhurst street, police said yesterday.

The man was critically wounded around 9 p.m. Monday when the thug pulled a gun and opened fire.

The victim was taken to Lutheran Hospital, where his condition stabilized.

A gun-wielding assailant shot and critically wounded a teen on a Williamsburg street, police said yesterday.

During an argument with a 19-year-old man, the suspect pulled a handgun and shot him in the neck at Franklin and Kent avenues around 11 p.m. Monday.

The victim was taken to Woodhull Hospital, where he was listed in critical, but stable condition.

An argument between two acquaintances ended with a 14-year-old boy shot in the arm on a Crown Heights street, police said yesterday.

The boy was wounded at St. Johns Place near Rogers Avenue on Monday, when a man in his 20s drew a pistol, opened fire and fled.

Bronx

A man clubbed by two drunken men on a Melrose street last Friday has died, police said yesterday.

Calvin Walters, 43, was confronted by two unidentified men at East 156th Street and Park Avenue around 1 a.m. Friday.

The pair struck Walters over the head with an object before fleeing.

Walters was taken to Lincoln Hospital, where he died Monday.

An NYPD cop was arrested on forgery charges early yesterday after he used a photocopy of a license plate on a car he borrowed in Tremont, police said.

Officer Yehudah Brooks, assigned to the 41st Precinct, was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument and suspended from the force just after midnight.

A school aide was arrested early yesterday for swiping a student’s Metro-Card and using it at a subway station near Yankee Stadium, police said.

Charles Nicholson, 23, who works at Professional Performing Arts HS in Manhattan, was busted by police in East 161st Street Station at River Avenue around 7:30 a.m.

He was charged with theft of service.

A 19-year-old man was shot in the neck walking on a Fordham street, police said yesterday.

At 3 p.m. Monday at the corner of East Fordham Road and Webster Avenue, the teen heard gunfire, felt a sting and realized he’d been shot.

He was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition.

Two men were hospitalized after being hit with gunfire on an Arverne street, police said.

A 24-year-old man was shot in the buttocks and a 22-year-old man hit in the foot when a gunman opened fire on Beach 54th Street around 7:30 p.m. Monday.

The victims were taken to Peninsula General Hospital in stable condition. The assailant fled.

Staten Island

Two off-duty cops nabbed a purse-snatcher who had just mugged a woman in Old Town, police said.

A teenager knocked a 42-year-old woman to the ground on Old Town Road and Wilson Street at 5:30 p.m. and ran off with her purse, police said.

The officers heard the woman scream for help and chased the mugger as he tried to run away on Old Town Road. He managed to get only a block before he was caught. The suspect, whose name was not immediately released, charged with robbery.
