A Long Island father and son were arrested and charged with savagely beating a 19-year-old man with a baseball bat – because a companion of the victim urinated on their car, police said.
The violence erupted Thursday night after laborer Joseph Cammareri, 45, and his son Anthony, 17, noticed a group of kids outside their Jericho home, said Nassau County Police Detective Sgt. John May.
“Apparently, one of the kids decides to urinate on Anthony Cammareri’s car,” said May. “He goes out to confront the group of kids and his father follows him out with the baseball bat.”
May said the youths, including the one who urinated, scrambled into a car and sped off – all except victim Baljinder Singh, 19, of Hicksville, who “didn’t make it” into the vehicle, May said.
He said the father and son chased the victim down the street and attacked him, giving him “one shot to the head with the baseball bat” that knocked him down.
The Cammareris then “continued to punch and kick him,” May said. The bleeding victim fled.
One witness then saw the elder Cammareri holding the bat, a tire iron and a piece of wood.
Singh was taken to a local hospital with a fractured skull and other injuries, but was later able to talk to detectives.
