Carbon monoxide poisoning killed two adults and a 2-month-old baby girl yesterday inside their Bronx home, authorities said.
The victims, who were not identified, were found on the top floor of their three-story house at 1708 Popham Ave. in the Morris Heights section around 8 p.m.
Firefighters and police arrived after a relative spotted a woman lying unconscious on the porch, gasping for air.
“That’s when we discovered the bodies inside,” said FDNY spokesman Sean Johnson.
The 19-year-old woman found on the porch, whose name was not released, was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.
The two adult victims were identified as a 54-year-old female and a 26-year-old male, police said.
Both victims were Jamaican immigrants, relatives said.
Investigators said the victims were overcome by odorless carbon monoxide fumes sparked from a gas-powered generator.
Firefighters found the generator was not running and out of fuel.
Cops did not suspect foul play.
Family members said the victims were forced to use the generator after Con Ed inexplicably cut off power to their home on Thursday.
“They told us the lights had been shut off,” said relative Sharleen Williams, 26, who added they always paid their bills on time. “They cut it off and left a note on the door.”
Williams said the 54-year-old woman who died was her aunt.
“She was an outgoing, loving woman,” she said. “She was always happy.”
