The man accused of killing his cousin and seriously injuring his brother in a drunk-driving smash told cops he had only a couple of beers, authorities said yesterday.
Santos Argueta, 24, of Flushing was arraigned yesterday in Queens Criminal Court, and charged with criminally negligent homicide, third-degree assault and DWI after slamming his1995 Infiniti into a light pole at 126th Street and Roosevelt Avenue early Thanksgiving morning.
Police sources said Argueta was driving at twice the speed limit.
The judge set bail at $15,000, but it was unclear whether Argueta had posted it, a spokesman for Queens DA Richard Brown said.
The driver’s cousin, Ever Argueta, 24, visiting from Washington, D.C., was killed. His brother, Edgar Argueta, 21, was taken to New York Hospital of Queens, where he was listed in serious but stable condition.
