A Bronx father was arrested yesterday in connection with the death of his 5-week-old son, police said.
Michael Williams, 23, of Hunts Point, was charged with first-degree assault.
It was not immediately clear if he would also be charged with murder.
His son, Michael Jr., was found not breathing at 1:45 p.m. Monday in the Seneca Avenue building where his father lived. The building houses a homeless shelter.
The baby was declared dead on arrival at Lincoln Hospital. He had suffered injuries to his skull, rib cage and leg.
Detectives from the 41st Precinct arrested Williams at about 4 p.m. yesterday.
