The crazed Bronx man who slashed his wife to death with a samurai sword was a “self-taught” martial-arts fanatic and Spider-Man fan who wanted to allow another woman into their relationship, sources said yesterday.
Ivor Forbes, 32, who attacked Kisha Denton, 34, in a horrific naked bloody rampage in their home early Sunday, had made the suggestion over the past few weeks and Denton had “resisted,” the source said.
Denton, who had been married to Forbes for 18 months but had dated him for 14 years, died of her injuries after the attack – during which her head was slashed, the fingers of one hand were chopped off and scattered and another hand was partially severed.
Arriving cops found Forbes naked and covered in blood shouting, “I am God! I am God! I am immortal! You can’t kill me!”
Devastated relatives were trying to comprehend what happened to a couple they had always thought of as very happy.
Forbes, they said, had recently lost his job as a computer programmer in White Plains and since then had begun to act increasingly strange – at times walking around quoting the Bible.
“My brother was having some emotional problems in his life that he was trying to keep under control,” his sister Nicole Forbes, 27, said. She insisted the couple had not had domestic problems in the past.
“The relationship they had was phenomenal. I can’t understand how he could do this to that sweet child,” she said, speaking of Denton.
Nicole said she had spent Thanksgiving with the pair at an uncle’s home and they had seemed relaxed and in love.
“They were laughing, playing with their food and smiling,” she said. But she added that Forbes had always been a bit of a loner, had a collection of weapons all over his apartment in the Pelham Parkway section and idolized Spider-Man.
Forbes had posed with his beloved superhero during the couple’s May 2002 honeymoon at Universal Studios in Hollywood, Calif.
“Ivor was a huge Spider-Man fan,” Nicole said. “He was also into Dungeons & Dragons and collected knives and swords.”
Cops arriving at the apartment were immediately confronted by a deranged and bloodied Forbes, who dropped his sword and came charging at them, officials said.
An officer fired on him from the doorway, hitting him in the legs and hand.
Her partner was injured by a stray bullet to the knee and was in stable condition at Jacobi Hospital.
Forbes was finally restrained by several EMS officers – one who was so covered in blood after the struggle he had to throw away his uniform.
After he was subdued, horrified cops searched the apartment and found four of Denton’s fingers scattered around. They also discovered two bloodied and bent samurai swords and three bloodied saws.
Forbes was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he is under heavy sedation and waiting to be questioned, sources said.
Denton, who worked for the city Department of Social Services, was still alive and covered in blood when cops found her, but died at Jacobi soon after, sources said.
A neighbor who heard noises from the apartment, knocked on the door and saw Denton kneeling on the floor covered in blood, called 911.
“She looked at me, but like she wanted help,” he said. “But at that time, I couldn’t do anything.”
