Willie Shaw’s days as a college basketball player are over.
St. John’s released a statement just minutes prior to tipoff of last night’s game against St. Francis that coach Mike Jarvis has dismissed Shaw from the program. Shaw was recently arrested for possession of marijuana.
It was the senior guard’s second marijuana violation. He tested positive for marijuana in March of 2002 and was suspended for the NCAA Tournament. Sources told The Post that St. John’s will honor Shaw’s academic scholarship but not his room and board.
It was not known if St. John’s had obtained the results of a drug test Shaw took after his arrest.
