WABC/Channel 7 went off the air for 20 minutes early yesterday after an electrical fire began in the basement of the broadcaster’s local television outlet, officials told The Post yesterday.
The fire was quickly extinguished by a sprinkler system after the FDNY turned off power.
The fire began in the basement of Channel 7’s building at West 67th Street and Broadway while “Good Morning America” was broadcasting from studios in Times Square.
“Everyone went into a frazzle over at ‘Regis and Kelly’ for a few minutes, but it was all over in a flash,” said a source. (p. 7 Metro)
