Hope remains alive for double-dipping lottery players looking to ring in the New Year in style.
Last night’s Powerball drawing again failed to produce a grand-prize winner – sending the jackpot skyrocketing to $210 million for Wednesday’s New Year’s Eve drawing.
Mega Millions players suffered the same fate Friday night, and that purse has leaped to an amazing $150 million.
Mega Millions players will have to wait until Tuesday for their next shot at the $150 million purse.
Eighteen people – including two New Yorkers – won the comparatively meager $175,000 second prize in the Mega Millions jackpot.
The record win for Powerball occurred last December when $314.9 million went to West Virginia construction company owner Andrew Whittaker.
For Mega Millions, the record win was $363 million in May of 2000.
