Parents of New York: Prepare for a revolution.
A 20,000-square-foot kid complex is set to open on the Upper East Side next January.
The new Kidville, NY complex, at 163 E. 84th St., will offer classes for kids up to 5 years old and their parents.
Moms, dads and all caregivers can multitask by shopping at the upscale boutique, getting nails done in the salon, watching a film in the tot-friendly theater, taking a parenting class, lunching at the café or finding a quiet place to work – all while waiting for Chloe and Cooper’s 45-minute cooking or music appreciation class to end.
“There is nothing like it in the city,” said Andy Stenzler, a co-founder of sandwich shop Cosi, who helped found the complex with his wife, Sheri Misher Stenzler, of London Misher Public Relations.
Other founders include Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf and Laurie Tisch, chair of the Children’s Museum of Manhattan and the Center for Arts Education.
The project began when Misher Stenzler found herself running around town taking her baby and stroller up and down stairs for different classes.
“There must be a better way,” she thought, and began informally polling fellow parents about their needs.
The complex will have high security and stroller-friendly extra-wide elevators. One of the two gyms will also serve as an in-house playground.
