Police yesterday dug up the body of a missing 39-year-old New Jersey woman after her boyfriend claimed that she died in a car accident in upstate New York – and he brought her back to bury her remains near his home.
The boyfriend, Kenneth Borger, told cops that he wrapped Lori Stillman’s body in a tarp and buried it near his Hamilton, N.J., apartment, police said.
But the heavy equipment operator made inconsistent statements, authorities said, insisting he couldn’t recall exactly the site of the makeshift grave. A search team and a police chopper found Stillman’s remains buried in a deep hole down a slope near a school.
Stillman had left a note for her father at their Freehold home, saying that she and her boyfriend were going to a cabin in the Adirondacks. She was reported missing earlier this week.
Police had been searching a wooded area near Borger’s home, next to a heavy equipment site where he once worked. Authorities were questioning Borger late yesterday. (p. 19 Metro)
