Aries, the bloodthirsty “serial cat-killer” dog, will never again roam wild on the streets of Long Beach, L.I., officials said yesterday.
The pet of a politically connected family, Aries mauled to death as many as seven cats in the seaside town, but was repeatedly freed from the pound to kill again.
But when The Post revealed the murderous mutt’s reign of terror, Long Beach officials promised to slam shut the gates of the city animal shelter.
And they’re also vowing an investigation of allegations that Aries’ owner, former Long Beach official Maryellyn Feiler, used political pull to get the dog out of the pound and erase the records.
“We will get to the bottom of it,” said city manager Glen Spiritis, who took office four months ago under a new administration.
Spiritis this week fired Long Beach Animal Shelter administrator Kenneth Colon for unspecified disciplinary problems.
Feiler, who once held the unusual dual titles of stenographer and director of community development, is also under investigation by the Nassau County DA’s Office and the Office of Housing and Intergovernmental Affairs.
