BE NICE AND FLY FOR A SONG

Air-raging passengers beware – niceness is now the only way to fly, at least on Song Airlines.

The Delta Air Lines discount carrier with the musical name and the green planes is planning to give away free tickets to anyone whom their employees catch being kind and generous on flights or in the airport.

“We really just want to reward members of the public for exhibiting kindness and courtesy,” said Song spokeswoman Tracey Bowen.

The airline will give its flight attendants and ticket clerks some 5,000 roundtrip tickets to hand out to polite passengers.

Bowen said random acts of kindness such as helping someone stow a heavy bag or giving up a cab to a stranger by the curb could lead to free ducats. Even non-Song customers who demonstrate niceness in the airport terminal are eligible.

“If people do these things, at the discretion of our employees, they can be rewarded,” she said.

The promotion will start June 1 and last throughout the month. The only catch is that these Mr./Ms. Congeniality prize tickets will be usable on Song flights only between Sept. 7 and Nov. 10.

While Bowen said the promotion was not meant to stop air rage, airline brass said they hope the program will get attention and attract new customers.

This is imperative, as Song’s parent, Delta, has lost more than $3 billion in three years and announced it is facing bankruptcy. With Post Wire Services
