A deranged Brooklyn man who threatened to jump from a 17th-floor window was grabbed by cops yesterday moments before he made a death leap, police and witnesses said.
The 37-year-old man, whose name was withheld because of his disturbed condition, climbed out and sat on the windowsill of his apartment at the Seth Low Housing Project, at 131 Belmont Ave., around 2 p.m.
He began making anguished facial gestures and swung back and forth on the windowsill while yelling he was going to jump, cops and witnesses said.
After a witness called 911, police and EMS units arrived at the building.
Cops went up the apartment and managed to get inside the barricades erected by the man, witnesses said.
They said police negotiated with the man for between 45 minutes and an hour.
Suddenly, according to witnesses, the man tried to jump off the windowsill, but cops grabbed him and pulled him inside.
