Charles Barkley vs. Deion Sanders
(Who would be better for Monday Night Football’s halftime?)
The night Roy Jones Jr. was knocked out, Charles Barkley belted out the result during TNT’s Inside the NBA. The night Jesse (The Bachelor) Palmer chose his mate, Barkley told his TNT audience he was watching ABC.
While Barkley’s indifference toward the NBA is funny, it wouldn’t transfer to another sport. Still, ABC Sports executive producer Mike Pearl has admitted to interest in adding Barkley in some capacity to Monday Night Football.
Unless Pearl is using the MNF possibility as a front to lure Barkley for ABC’s NBA coverage, then this acquisition would be Dennis Miller-esque. Pearl would be better advised to go after former CBS analyst Deion Sanders for the halftime show. Sanders is a love-him-or-hate-him character perfectly suited for prime time.
Plus, while Barkley has two years remaining on his TNT deal, Sanders is a free agent – and, more important, a Matchup winner.
